Contents and Overview

This course consists of 13 sections that include lectures and hands-on exercises that guide you in the design of a mid-century inspired desk lamp. Each lesson includes comprehensive a starter activity, lecture presentations, project resources, practice exercises, a challenge exercise, and a final course assessment.

The beginning of the course begins with a short starter activity in which we walk through how to create decorative cutouts in a wooden candle holder using parametric modeling. We then learn about the Fusion 360 user interface by first being exposed to it though a lecture followed by a hands-on walkthrough of the complete UI.

After completing the starter activity, we move onto the design, assembly, render, and creation of a mid-century inspired desk lamp. You’ll start by modeling the base of the lamp, then moving on to modeling the arm and lamp shade fittings. Finally, we learn to assemble the lamp components, document the lamp design, and create a photo realistic render of the lamp. You’ll also be guided through the steps of exporting your CAD design to 3D print. In the final lesson of the course, we’ll focus on Fusion 360’s cloud collaboration tools for design review and collaboration with others.

At the end of the course, you’ll take a course assessment that demonstrates your expertise and shows you where you might need more practice.

This course is a revised update of our course Learn Autodesk Fusion 360 in an Hour.
