I Am A Man: When It Isn’t Your Fault, Rise, Recover & Live is an impassioned memoir detailing the trials and tribulations of author Marty M. Alston. I really enjoyed how candid the author was throughout the story. Although sometimes bleak, the story can also be funny at times, and that lightness really elevates the book into a story thats easy to read. It felt like I was listening to a friend explain the hardships he faced when dating a woman who tried to keep him a secret, The book is colored with emotion and truly speaks to the determination and fortitude of the author to pick himself back up after such an abusive relationship. This an ultimately uplifting story though, as it also covers the authors rise, which leaves readers feeling empowered.
I would highly recommend this thought – provoking memoir to anyone that has had personal trouble in thier own life, especially from other people who claimto care for them. I Am A Man: When It Isnt Your Faut, Rise, Recover & Live is a well-written memoir that shows how someone csn overcome difficult personal obstacles in life, and come out the other side a better person.
